Well it has been a bit over 2 months since my last newsletter, and in case you missed it, we are now very comfortable in our New Clinic!

The many reviews from patients have been overwhelming positive, and the staff, including myself, are equally pleased to be working in such a pleasant environment.

Additionally, please check the "Many Changes" article below to find out the other big happenings at the clinic since our move.  If you haven't been to the new clinic yet, please be sure to come in and check it out.

July 4th Holiday Schedule

The clinic will be closed on Friday July 3rd, in honor of the July 4th holiday.  I will have clinic hours on Thursday July 2nd, both in the morning and afternoon to accommodate as many patients as possible.  Please call asap for your appointments for our shortened week.

New and Exciting Happenings at the Clinic!

We are very pleased to say that our old office staff member, Niko, is back as Dr. Niko Hall, our Newest Doctor of Chiropractic!

For those of you who are newer to the clinic, Niko had been a trusty back office chiropractic assistant for a few years and then left us to head off to Chiropractic College. He graduated this April from Southern California University of Health Sciences and has been working at the clinic part time since we moved, providing back office support once again.  However, now his title is officially Dr. Niko Hall, and he has already begun seeing patients!

Also, the clinic has added a very exciting new treatment modality call Pulsed ElectroMagnetic Field therapy!  We have two new high-end NRG Pro PEMF machines from Pulsed Centers, the state of the art manufacturer in PEMF equipment. Please see my article below to learn more about PEMF.

Step 3 to a Lifetime of Wellness

The remaining steps are not necessarily in a specific order. Some individuals' health priorities will be different than others. At times, addressing one of these will require addressing two or three different steps to get the kind of results you desire. Some patients are already at their ideal weight and can skip this step!
Step #3: Reach your "Ideal Weight!"

Most Americans today are well aware of the many problems associated with excess weight. There have been volumes written on this issue and we are continually bombarded with endless articles on the subject. Most people know what their ideal weight is, as they were at that weight once upon a time, and they remember how good they felt when they were slimmer and trimmer. The good news is that with the proper program, losing weight is a very doable step and one that will yield many noticeable health benefits.

If achieving your ideal weight or at least a lower weight is a key for you, I will assist you in creating a weight goal and provide you with all of the key aspects of a healthy weight loss program. Don't worry if you want to get healthier and don't want to make weight loss a primary focus at this time. There is still much we can do to assist you in becoming healthier while leaving the "ideal weight" step until a later time.

The Power of PEMF

Since starting my practice over 30 years ago, I have always looked at additional ways to greatly enhance my patients' health over and above my foundational steps of Diet, Nutrition and Chiropractic care.  I have researched many different modalities, but none really excited me enough to include them in my practice.

I came across Pulsed Electromagnetic Field therapy (PEMF) a couple years ago, and was encouraged by the depth and breadth of the results very successful docs had achieved with PEMF.  However, I had some concerns regarding the equipment being used at that time.  It wasn't until I discovered the NRG PRO, by Pulse Centers, that I found the quality of PEMF equipment I felt was great enough for my patients, their families and loved ones.

PEMF therapy affects every cell in your body.  While at times we may focus on certain tissues more than others, in general, all of your cells will be getting "recharged".  As Dr. Martin Milner says, "there is no single therapy that does more to rehabilitate cellular structures than PEMF."  With this type of cellular effect, PEMF can be used for patients who have acute injuries, chronic conditions of all kinds, and for those of us who just want to be as healthy as we can be.

With PEMF, we are not treating any specific condition; rather we are restoring the key to health, the health of your cells.  If every cell in your body were 100% healthy, you would be the picture of health.  There are many variables that influence the health of our cells, including our nutrition, hydration status, sleep quality, emotional state, exercise, stress levels, and many other environmental factors.

As our cells are exposed to challenges over time, such as oxygen or nutrient deficiency, toxicity from environmental exposures, tissue injury or inflammation, the optimal movement of ions (molecules or atoms) in and out of the cell is altered.  This limited transport disrupts the specific electrical charge of the cell membrane and the charge inside of the cell.  The altered electrical charge profoundly affects metabolic nutrition into, and waste products out of the cell, as well as overall cellular health and function.  In time, cellular function declines to the point when our health is directly affected.

Our NRG PRO Cellular Exercise System generates pulses of electromagnetic field into your body (PEMF).  As Dr. Milner states: "When the magnetic field is pulsed on, electrons are excited, and cells exposed to the magnetic field are exercised and expanded.  The electrically charged cell membrane is gently pulled by the pulsing magnetic field, and the matter as well as the space around the cells is recharged.  On the off phase of the pulse, the cells relax.  This repetitive cycle is profoundly beneficial cellular exercise and rehabilitation, improving ion movement across the cell membrane that ultimately allows the membrane's electrical charge to return toward optimal.  Cells that are fully recharged, are able to return to optimal function."

In the words of Dr. Gary Gordon:

When your cells are sick, they lose energy.  As a result there is not enough ATP, and the voltage of your cell membrane drops from an optimal 70 mV down to 40-50 mV.  People who are very sick potentially have voltages as low as 20mV (in the case of cancer). Cancer cells typically have a voltage of 20mV and are in fermentation, meaning they need ten times (10x) more energy from the environment.
PEMF builds up energy within your cells; it oxygenates and alkalizes the cells; it improves circulation and the intracellular conversion of nutrients and oxygen results in increased ATP.  PEMF also increases the efficiency with which your body processes and expels waste products and keeps your systems running smoothly.  The end result is that PEMF allows your body to once again return toward optimum performance.  As a result of improved cellular health, patients often experience changes and improvements in areas that they had not thought of or never consider "fixable." This is one of many exciting aspects of PEMF.  The NRG PRO is the only Cellular Exercise system in the world to combine solid-state engineering, integrated electronics, "user-controlled" adjustable pulse and magnetic field strength with up to 10Hz of pulsing power, making it stronger than any Cellular Exercise equipment on the market.  With the addition of PEMF at Santa Barbara Wellness for Life, we have an amazing therapy, from the best equipment, with dedicated doctors and staff, as well as the nutritional support to assist your cells in returning toward optimal health.  With this combination, anything is possible.  We look forward to seeing you get healthier and healthier.

Free PEMF Trial

The response to our PEMF therapy has honestly been overwhelming.  In fact, currently our patients who have signed up for PEMF therapy have used up all our available PEMF appointments.  However, with some scheduling improvements very soon we will have more PEMF treatment hours available.  Once that happens all patients have the option of receiving 2 complimentary PEMF sessions.  These are hour long appoints, not a short little taste of PEMF.  Please let our staff know that you are interested and they can put you on the list.
