I hope you've been enjoying the early summer weather, and use it to your advantage by increasing healthy outdoor activities.  For me, these include more miles on my bike, more walking and more grilling. Grilling is a great way to prepare healthy proteins and veggies.

Speaking of healthy outdoor activities, Laurie and I are heading to Zion National Park for some much needed R&R.

I will be out of the Office Friday, May 24th through Monday, May 27th (Memorial Day), and return Tuesday, May 28th, all day.

Save Your Spouse!

Caring spouses (usually the wife) often ask me for some supplement recommendations for their partner, whom they haven't been able to get into to see me, quite yet. They know their loved one needs some nutrition, and they are smart enough to know that picking things off of a shelf, sold by a high school grad, with God only knows what quality of ingredients, is not the way to go.

So, here is Dr. Dale's Save Your Spouse, critical product recommendations for saving your spouse: By the way, all of these can be taken at breakfast, just once per day to make it easier.

Omega 369: at least 1 Tablespoon and if they are a big person or very athletic person, I would recommend 2 Tablespoons.

Max B ND: It is almost impossible to get enough of all of different fraction of the B vitamin family from our diet each day. This is the highest quality B vitamin I have ever seen, it includes multiple fractions that are very important for Heart protection and brain health to name just two critical systems that need all the help they can get. This is also the most natural of all the B vitamins available and the best absorbed.

Additionally, this product is one most patients feel noticeably better with when they take it regularly, and thus it is the most popular product in the clinic.

Dosage should be at least a half teaspoon, ideally one full teaspoon, per day.

Goodbye Alice, Hello Dana! 

 As some of you already know, we are losing the presence and support of Alice.  She has been an asset that we all have enjoyed.  Alice will be returning to her homeland on the East Coast to return to school. 

Luckily, we have found a replacement that you will all get to know and be served by, and that is Dana!  Dana is bright, thoughtful and very service oriented, so I am sure you will be well taken care of. Please be sure to introduce yourself to Dana when you come in next time. 

Finally Some Medical Sanity on Salt

To be honest, this generally means they've finally come around and see things my way.  A new "expert committee, a "prestigious group", commissioned by the Institute of Medicine, via the prodding of the CDC (the Center for Disease Control), says there is no good reason based on health outcomes for many Americans to lower their sodium consumption to the very low levels recommended in the past "dietary guidelines".

Basically, they finally realized that sodium intake, like most intake issues, is a matter of individuals responding differently to this essential mineral.  Some people benefit by lowering their salt intake from very high levels to modest levels, but a significant percentage of people who lowered their salt intake to low levels actually had more hospital visits and more deaths.  For years I have guided patients to either increase or decrease their salt intake based on their individual needs.  One definite problem however is if you're eating fast food all the time, you're getting very high, dangerous levels of salt.
